Our elected city officials can't think outside of the box they are in. Why should the city spend tens of thousands of our taxpayers' money on a survey (oops, sorry, too late - already done that and spent too much) to find a space to build a new animal facility for the Beach? Instead of using eminent domain and forcing people out of their homes or businesses, they could purchase one of the empty big-box facilities in Virginia Beach and use it for a new facility. The big box is large enough that many offices could be incorporated into the building to house all sorts of administrative duties. It is also big enough that the city could contract for a veterinarian to have their facilities within the complex. There would be ample space to house numerous cages for displaced animals and also provide numerous runs in the back of the building under the roof.
